In early January, a mother in Ukraine gave birth to a baby girl with DNA from three parents—yes you hear that correctly. The young girl has DNA from three parents—two women and one man. This was done by a process known as s modern mitochondrial replacement therapy (MRT). And its done purportedly to prevent genetic abnormalities. Arina Grossu, of the Family Research Council’s said “Scientists…don’t know yet what kind of irreparable impact tinkering with the human genome will have on this child and future generations. It is contrary to human dignity to treat the creation and destruction of human life as a science experiment". Science and technology have no doubt improved lives. But scientists seem to have a hard time accepting ethical limits—limits that warn us that altering the DNA of human life is God's exclusive domain and not ours.
