Do you believe that black lives matter? If you are an American and believe in the American creed that “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights” then we should all believe that every black life matters. In fact, every human life matters regardless of skin color or ethnicity. However, if you don’t agree with the Black Lives Matter organization you could get in trouble. And some are losing their jobs for simply saying that “all lives matter.” This is an intolerance that should be condemned. Martin Luther King Jr. reminds us that people should be judged by “the content of their character, not the color of their skin.” Black lives indeed matter. However, in order to truly achieve justice and racial equality, coercion and intolerance must be resisted.

BLM Leadership doesn’t line up with my views on some or many areas. That said, however, no one is advocating that Black lives matter any more than anyone else’s. It is just that with so many deaths occurring in the black community, black lives need to be emphasized to help stamp out the systemic racism that has existed without serious challenge for too many years. So, we cannot just say that all lives matter and expect any meaningful change. Let us stand with our Christian Brothers and Sisters and say, for this time in our checkered history, we are emphasizing Black lives to help stamp out the racism that allows black lives to be treated callously.
Douglas, I 100% hear you and agree. I believe this to be the reason Richard clarified in the commentary that he was referring to the Black Lives Matter organization. I (personally) agree with you, I believe “All Lives Matter” completely misses the point that all lives can’t matter until black lives matter. However, I also don’t think people should be fired for saying “All Lives Matter” even though it is tone-deaf. Thank you for your comment my Brother.
