One of the things that set America apart from many nations is that we value and protect human rights. And a fundamental human right is the right of conscience. Conscience is that internal moral compass that tells us right from wrong. But conscience has been under attack in recent years as our nation is losing a moral consensus. A bill in the Kentucky State Senate would protect the conscience rights of doctors and medical professionals. Some of whom may be forced to partake in a procedure they find morally objectionable like abortion or gender transition surgery. SB 83 protects the rights of medical professionals and also protects the rights of medical centers to practice medicine by their values and conscience. The bill is sponsored by Senators Steve Meredith (R-Leitchfield) and Sen. Robby Mills (R-Henderson).
