House Democrats introduced another coronavirus relief bill, worth $3.3 trillion. The eighteen hundred-page bill would send each person $1,200 and another $1,200 per dependent. The bill is $1.3 trillion larger than the CARES Act but the question is: why now? Most states have ended their stay-at-home orders and all but two states are beginning to reopen. This time of economic shutdown has been challenging to millions but will adding another $3.3 trillion to our national debt really solve the problem? The economy is reopening and people are going back to work. So Congress would do well not to sacrifice our financial future for a short-term fix.
