Authorities are still trying to figure out what caused Stephen Paddock to open fire on thousands of concert goers in Las Vegas. One report links the nation's worst mass shooting in recent history to compulsive gambling.  One news report says Paddock "was a nocturnal creature who gambled all night and slept all day. He took Valium at times for anxiousness" and wagered up to a million dollars a night. At one point he spent 24-hours straight at a video poker game.  Which makes us ask, is gambling a good thing for people and does it truly lead to the good life? We know that all compulsive gamblers won't commit horrendous acts of carnage, but at least in this case serious gambling addiction appears to have played a role.
