The city of Louisville announced that its awarding $12 million to Breonna Taylor’s family for a wrongful death lawsuit filed earlier in the year. Breonna was shot by police after they issued a no-knock warrant last March. As part of the settlement, the city of Louisville agreed to police reforms which include revises law enforcement tactics and housing incentives to encourage officers to live in low-income neighborhoods. Critics argue that the move is premature until Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron releases the findings from his investigation. Breonna Taylor has become a rallying cry for justice. And justice is something we should all long for. It should be colorblind. But justice should also be immune from the hysteria that would pronounce judgment before all the facts are in.
