Kentucky is finally on the path towards post-pandemic normalcy. Gov. Andy Beshear announced that he’s lifting the mask mandate for outdoor events with less than 1,000 people. According to the governor, this means that you are not required to wear a mask at places such as an outdoor barbecues or at an outdoor wedding—not that this mandate has been closely followed by all. This move is partly due to the increasing number of people receiving the vaccine. So far, there have been 1.7 million Kentuckians who have received their first dose. We are still ways off from a total lift of the mask mandate and move toward normalcy for all sectors of society, but this is certainly welcome news from a governor fond of telling private citizens what they can do in private gatherings.
