The United States has had peaceful transfers of power from one president to the next since John Adams followed George Washington in 1797. This will continue in 2021 as Pres. Donald Trump will peacefully transfer his executive power to President-elect Joe Biden. Pres. Trump said his focus has turned “to ensuring a smooth, orderly and seamless transition of power.” Unlike other less stable countries, the Founders put safeguards into place to ensure our Republic wouldn’t erupt in chaos after an election. While many people disagree with who is inaugurated on January 20th, we should be thankful that God has given us a country of stability, where we can settle our differences at the ballot box instead of the bayonet, and where our leaders peacefully pass the baton on to the next executive.
