Senator Rand Paul was attacked while mowing his lawn last week. Of all people, he was attacked by his neighbor.  It's unclear as to the motivation of the attack but some have suggested it’s over political disagreements. Paul suffered six broken ribs and bruises to his lungs. This is the latest in a growing list of politicians attacked or threatened with violence this year. Earlier this year, Sen. Paul was at the annual Congressional baseball game where a gunman opened fire on Republican Congressman.  It can be dangerous to be political leader these days, but it’s even more dangerous to remain silent in the face of heightened political rhetoric that leads to violence. This means that each of us has a duty to stand against violence and to speak up on behalf of civility.
