It's one of the most iconic pictures of the 20th century. A Chinese man stands directly in front of a tank in Tiananmen Square.  The year was 1989 and Chinese students protested their oppressive government, and this student in particular was willing to lay down his life for freedom. There were thousands of Chinese students fighting for the same kind of freedom you and I enjoy. In fact, they read the Declaration of Independence aloud. Art students built a Chinese version of the Statue of Liberty in the middle of the square. Supporters brought food and encouraged the students, but on June 4, 1989, the student protest was squashed, and thousands were killed. However, most Chinese won't hear about it because government censors are purging their ugly history from social media and elsewhere.
