There’s good news regarding the fight against COVID-19 and it comes from right here in the Commonwealth. Researchers at the University of Louisville have made a breakthrough and developed a technology that appears to block the coronavirus from infecting human cells. University officials are now working to fast-track the development of the treatment. They’re also trying to obtain approval from the Food and Drug Administration in order to start treating patients seriously affected with COVID-19.  If the treatment is approved it will no doubt save lives. As of last week, there were nearly 200,000 deaths attributed to COVID-19  worldwide, and 50,000 in the United States. The breakthrough by U of L researches could reverse the trend.
