The 2021 Kentucky General Assembly session begins today. It’s a short session with only 30 working days to conduct the commonwealth’s legislative business. While hundreds of bills will be proposed, only a few priority bills will make it into law. Expect a lean state budget to pass. Gov. Beshear will most definitely see his executive authority curtailed. Another bill would allow the state legislature to call itself into session. There will be various coronavirus related bills including one that would prohibit mandatory vaccinations. One priority bill deals with racial discrimination. A couple of pro-life bills will be introduced, including the Born Alive Infant Protection Act which protects babies who survive an abortion.
