Violent protests erupted in Louisville after a Grand Jury didn’t implicate police officers involved with the Breonna Taylor shooting. Two officers were shot by a vigilante. One was white and one was black. The criminal probably didn’t know that the white officer, Major Aubrey Gregory helped a black lady running the Derby City marathon cross the finish line in 2015. The iconic photo of Officer Gregory helping Asia Mystory Ford across the line was an act of racial unity between the black community and police. The violent protestor probably had no idea that the other officer shot was a black man from Haiti named Robinson DesRochers and was the first Haitian to serve with Louisville police—an effort the Louisville Police department made to bring racial unity on the force.
