First District Congressman James Comer (R-Tompkinsville) is “deeply troubled” by the Equality Act—a bill introduced that will add sexual orientation and gender identity to the civil rights code. Comer said “It’s a clever name with an allegedly noble purpose. But a vehicle for serious harmful consequences.” If the Equality Act becomes law, transgender boys could play on girls sports teams and transgender men would have access women’s locker rooms and showers. But an even bigger concern is that “the Equality Act equates Christian ethics with hatred and bigotry” according to Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission senior fellow Andrew Walker. This is because the equality act would be used as a tool to discriminate against those with conservative views on human sexuality. It would especially target creative professionals like graphic artists, film makers and bakers whose conscience’s won’t let them convey every message. Which makes the Equality Act, essentially unfair and unequal.
